Read MoreWhat an absolute dream to see our work published on Martha Stewart Weddings today! You would never know it was a freezing day in Milwaukee when a dream team of vendors and the Bonphotage Photography team got together in Milwaukee at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum for the Bonphotage Photography workshop ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
From Martha Stewart, "No place has quite the same allure as Europe—which explains why it's a popular wedding destination for couples planning an ultra-romantic fête. While each across-the-pond country comes with its own rich legacy and historic architecture, that Old-World feeling distinct to Europe surrounds you no matter where you are on the continent. Whether you're standing in front of a château in the South of France or basking in the sun on a Spanish villa's veranda, there's one thing that's certain: That vibe, strong enough to make you dream of a life as an ex-pat, doesn't come along very often when you're stateside—and you sense it even less (if at all) in your hometown. At least, that's what Lynzie Hazan of believed until she stumbled upon the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in—believe it or not—Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hazan took one look at the mansion, designed in the style of a 16th-century Italian Renaissance mansion, and knew that it "needed to be captured in an elegant way." Suddenly, the idea came to her. "While we all dream of a European wedding, it isn't always an option," she explains. "So, why not bring Europe to the couple?"
She then assembled a dream team—which included Régine Danielle Events and Frontier Flowers of Fontana—to bring her vision of a European-inspired styled shoot, complete with a color palette informed by the Tuscan-inspired venue, vintage rentals, and an antique-filled tablescape, to life. With the villa's sprawling gardens, terracotta tiled roof, and waterfront location (it overlooks Lake Michigan!) as a backdrop, it's almost impossible to believe that this concept came together in the continental U.S.
Of course, not every couple has access to a venue designed with the Italianate architecture of the past as a model, especially if they're getting hitched in the place where they grew up. But that absolutely doesn't mean that you can't plan a European-themed celebration. Here, Hazan and her team give their tips on planning and executing a hometown wedding that feels like a little sliver of Tuscany."

Read MoreI literally squealed when these film scans landed in my inbox. Quite possibly the most beautiful wedding we've had the privilege of covering, Nicole + Tarik's special day was nothing short of a dream! The ceremony took place by the chapel steps at the historic Chateau Bouthonvilliers in the French Countryside. It had been raining in the morning but the skies opened up with the perfect amount of sun and light breeze right before they said "I do" (a film photographer's dream!) The flowers from Floresie were out of this world (see her bouquet!!) and we absolutely cannot forget Nicole's blush Lazaro dress which literally stopped me in my tracks! Every detail was accounted for, from the oval emerald stunning engagement ring, to the hand calligraphed vow books to the studded louboutins, and all of it was perfectly executed by Mayra from The Event House.
Read MoreAmerican Idol alum Josh Gracin married his partner of over two years, Katie Weir, in one of the most beautiful weddings we've had the pleasure of capturing.
When Katie called me and explained her love of film photography and how they wanted to create a "fine art wedding" with an Old Hollywood feel while also staying true to their country roots, I knew this was going to be a beautiful day!
On May 6, 2017, Josh and Katie said "I do" in Nashville, Tennessee at the Green Door Gourmet under a chiffon adorned structure covered in green and white hydrangeas. Katie arrived at the end of the aisle in a fancy car before stepping out for her love Josh to see her for the first time.
Every detail was worthy of a "fine art" label, from the four mrs. boxes, to Katie's sparkly Christian Louboutin heels to her absolutely stunning Galia Lahav gown! Katie presented each of her bridesmaids with gifts from Tiffany's, each customized.
The party continued into the barn area, draped in crystal chandelier and silver and pink detail. With regards to the cake, Josh tells us “We wanted a minimalist theme for the wedding so this cake really went well with the simple and modern design aspect." During the reception venue, guests dug into the all-white confection made up of two tiers of chocolate cake filled with chocolate mousse buttercream and salted caramel, and two tiers of traditional almond wedding cake. The whole creation was covered with vanilla buttercream in “rustic textured lines” and decorated with white flowers.
The pair also incorporated a sentimental piece into their cake cutting ceremony: “We had ‘Mr. & Mrs. Gracin – May 6, 2017’ engraved on the front of the servingware, and the back reads ‘I Like You a Lot’, which is a song by Jake Owen that Katie sent to me after dating for a couple of months,” says Josh Gracin, whose own single “Nothin’ Like Us” is steadily streaming on Spotify. “She also had it engraved in my wedding ring.”
Read MoreThis, my friends, is why I actually beam when people ask me if I like my job! Like? LOVE!! It isn't even the fact that I had the pleasure to photograph Meriam and Samer in the most beautiful city in the world (Paris!) - it is the fact that I have had the honor to capture Meriam and Samer's lifetime milestones on four separate occasions (engagement, bridal shower, wedding AND Paris honeymoon!) Nothing could be more fulfilling than practicing your passion, creating time pieces people will cherish forever and establishing life long friendships along the way. It is truly a blessing.
Thank you Meriam and Samer for the opportunity and now...bring on the cute babies so we can capture them too!!!
All the love, Bonphotage
